Pest management is no exception

Innovation is a critical component of a strong industry or organization. Because of the advancement of new technologies and best practices, new methods of eliminating termites appear thick and fast. While there is nothing wrong with the current pest management techniques, creating new solutions such as pest control software is helpful. This article will discuss the different types of termites and how to identify a termite colony.

Flying termites

If you notice flying termites on your property, it’s time to take action. Unlike subterranean termites, flying termites do not damage concrete foundations. Instead, they can damage wood sources and wood-frame structural supports. Termites eat cellulose. They are the leading cause of damage to structures and can cause millions of property damage yearly.

Subterranean termites

Identifying and controlling subterranean termites is crucial to keeping your home free of these pests. This is where pest control technology comes into play. This technology tracks the path of a termite, enabling trained technicians to find entry points and the main nest. The technique can also help you determine whether a particular house is infested.

Formosan termites

If you’re concerned about Formosan termites, you’re not alone. There’s a wide variety of products and techniques available. However, the best way to get rid of Formosan termites is to dig a trench around your home and treat it with a chemical termiticide.

Formosan termites can cause considerable damage to your home. They eat everything from wood to door frames, window sills, rafters, and roofing. While no house is entirely termite-proof, preventing a termite infestation is essential to the structure’s integrity.

Moisture sensor

A Moisture Sensor is a hydrometer that can detect the moisture content in most common building materials. It works by placing a sensor pad on the surface to be tested. When termites are large numbers, their colonies produce a large amount of humidity to prevent them from drying out. The Moisture Sensor is a convenient way to detect the presence of termites without having to open up a building or damage the walls. Once it has detected termites, the sensor can record its findings, and you can include them in the report to the building owner.

Nontoxic treatments

While chemical-based termite control methods are not 100% effective, non-toxic methods can be used to eliminate infestations. Nontoxic termite treatments include borates, fungi, orange oil, and “borate” sprays. Beneficial nematodes can also be used as microscopic worms that feed on many different insects. However, these natural remedies have not been proven effective for eradicating termites from actual structures.

Termite baits

Termite baits are a great way to get rid of these pesky pests. These products are placed around the perimeter of a home and in areas suspected of flying termite activity. Since the bait stations are buried in the soil, termites cannot see or smell them. However, they may find their way into these stations during foraging activities. These baits must be installed at a specific interval to be effective.
